WHALES SEASON
A Once-in-a-Lifetime Encounter
From July to October, Tonga becomes one of the only places in the world where you can legally and ethically swim with migrating humpback whales.
Each year, thousands of humpbacks travel from Antarctica to the warm, protected waters of Tonga to:
• Give birth
• Nurse their calves
• Rest and bond
• Sing
This means:
• Mothers and newborn calves
• Calm, curious young whales
• Incredible visibility
• Warm tropical water
• Fewer crowds than most whale destinations
Unlike many other countries, Tonga allows small, regulated groups to enter the water respectfully under strict guidelines. Encounters are intimate, slow and deeply moving.
You are not chasing wildlife.
You are being invited into their world.
Floating in clear turquoise water while a 40-ton mother and her calf glide beneath you is something that changes you. It’s humbling. It’s grounding. It reminds you how small and powerful we are at the same time.
For many women, this becomes the most emotional moment of the entire retreat.
